Inside/Outside Brochure

 LI: to celebrate matariki

This week for the matariki challenges we created 2 brochures which was an inside brochure and an outside bochure. For my inside brochure, me and my group explained about the matariki stories, how matariki was celebrated in the past and what food was harvest at the festival. For my outside bochure, we explained matariki and wrote fact about it too.

What I found a bit hard is that i didn't know any fact so I had to reaserch it.

the time is the most hardest thing of all in maori.
If I had to tell the time in maori I would struggle what about you.

Maori

LI: to the history of the Maori culture.
For Maori we had to watch a video that had only the Maori language, we then had to translate those words into English. We also had to translate some Maori words into English. The words the we had to translate into English were Kupu, Hoa, Koa, Moa, two translations of Noa, Ngutu Roa, two translations of Roa and two translations of Toa.  We also had to use three of the Moari words in one sentence

This week for Maori we we learned about what we like in Maori we say He Pai ki ahau/What I like .
We started of by doing a word problem. We had to find the words when we finished we could started doing a our poster.
For our poster we had to write He Pai ki Ahau and write what you like.

L.I to learn about patupaiarehe fairies and the geography of Aotearoa.

Patupaiarehe are fairies that live in the deep deep forest.
They have magical powers like making magical rope and strength.

The patupaiarehe we learnt about today live on mountains.
We learnt about patupaiarehe and fairies by listening to the story of ihenga and searching for information, and using google drawing.

Patupaiarehe and the mountains

LI: to learn the geography of Aotearoa
Mount Manganui is a mountain in Tauranga. The Hunua and Waitakere ranges are mountains in Auckland. Patupaiarehe are fairies that lived on these mountains in Maori myths. I also learned about the Paitupaiarehe and mountains by listening to two stories. They are called "The Legend of Mauo" and the other is "The Tureha Wars". I learned where the mountains are by looking on Google Maps.

Maori

This week for maori we learned about maori words
for food and to say give and anei in maori.We have two
pieces of paper and it was about food,fruits and vegtables.
We had to write the maori words in the right food.There
was different type of food,fruits and vegtables.The words
for:


  • Apple Juice-Aporo/Vegtables from the ground/Hua Whenua.
  • Banana-Panana/Pie-Taupoki.
  • Toast-Tahi/Letuce-Reti Hi
  • Cheese-Tihi/Chicken-Hei Hei.
  • Pineapple-Panapora/Ham-Poaka Poua.
  • Corn-Kanga/Fish-Ika.
  • Tomato-Tamoto/Bread-Paraoa.
  • Apple-Apora/Sandwhich-Hanawitw.
That are the maori words for the food,fruits and vegtables.Next we had to color
the foods,fruit and vegtables.
Then we had small pieces and paper for giving and here.Learning maori is
very good to me and interesting to me also important to me.

Paikea


L.I To make a poster about Paikea.
Paikea is a whale that saved a person that was calling for help in the deep sea and took him to New Zealand to live for life.
Today for Maori we had to make a DLO that has to have Paikea in the middle and around it has to be the paikea song and the map of whangara and the picture of the maraes tahuhu with Paikea and the whale underneath him. and lastly the marae.

Te Huarere


LI: To learn about the Maori culture.
This week for Maori we were learning how to say the days in Maori and how to spell it. So we first started by siting on the floor then our teacher came in and we had to greet her in Maori after that she started reading us a story and it was about the days After that we had to search up places on google maps then we had to make a google slide about the days we stooped at Wednesday. But we used the Maori dictionary to spell the Maori words in Maori. So this week for Maori we were learning about the weather. It was fun because you got to learn a new language.

Maori

LI: to learn more about Moari true based history.
This week for Maori we did a First session of Maori for term 4. Group had to go sit with Mrs Fiyah Ody in Working space 2. 

Fiyah Ody read us a book called "Remember that November" The book was really interesting it was based on a true story after reading the story we did some research on google maps. We got handed a Printed piece of a map.We researched Parihaka on the piece of paper we had to mark where Parihaka was and also a new fact Parihaka was below New Plymouth.

This week for Maori we got this book read to us we had to watch on the tv in the class in sand acting they told us by showing us not talking about it we had to watch it and then we had to look at the tv and then when we done we had to go on to bogger and then we had to put the link here Youtube and then we blog it.

This week for maori we did the string game.We had to get a piece of string and we had to do some cool stuff with it like the parachute,Effiel tower and other cool stuff.Some people were asking how to do it because it was really hard.The first one we had to was the parachute it was quite easy for some people.After that we had to do the other ones.

Maori

Matariki is a Maori new year PBS will celebrate Matariki by singing song's and eating food and  performing. For Maori today we learned to sing a song and also Whia Oddie gave us a word find. A word find is like finding a word in Maori and we have to cross it out. After that we had to write a song on the back of the paper.
