Kiwi sport

This session is the last session for the term. For a start we had to do stretches. The stretches we did were: L shape, Seal, Butterfly, cat, straddle and back, front, side support. On each we had to push our self to feel the burn. We had to do each of them for 10 seconds and move on to the next one.

We had three rotation the first rotation had: going backwards on the beam, cartwheel on the box, cart wheel on the stage and forward roll on the bench. The second rotation had: star jumping off the trampoline, backwards roll down, 1 leg/scorpion hand stand and the half/180 jump. For the trampoline jump we had to get a high jump and move into a star shape position. For the 180 turn we had to jump on the spring ramp and turn half way.

The last rotation had: Hand stand against the wall, front support, parallel bars and back/side/front rotation. For the hand stand against the wall we have to hand stand putting one foot on the wall and the other stretching out and then switch. We then ended with telling the most difficult part of the challenges.

Rotation Two: There was a trampoline to jump on and we had to go as high as possible then land, then front roll, then do the same thing but a dive roll. We then had to do a backwards roll. After we had to do candlesticks, then a full handstand, and a tuck handstand. Lastly jump of a board and do a 180 spin in the air.

LI: to learn how to play Ki o Rahi

Today for Kiwi Sport we learnt how to play the game ki o Rahi first we all got into to teams and we had to wear rippa tags to play the game and we also had to use the ki and then we started playing the game. and we had a kicker to start the game and they had to kick it into Pawero, and if they do not catch it or not kick properly it is a handover and the taniwha team had to try score by throwing the Ki at the tupu, and to stop that the kaitiaki has to make sure the ki does not touch the tupu. If the Kaitiaki catches the Ki then they throw it out to their team members the kioma team out in Te Au. Kiome scores trys by touching as many Po and they have to try not get ripped by the taniwha team when they touch the po and to score in pawero. We had gotten separated into two teams, one team is the red team and the other is the blue team.

Koki o Rahi/Kiwi Sport

LI: to learn the positions of team taniwha
This week for Kiwi Sport we learnt the positions of taniwha. Team Taniwha can only stay on Te Roto (Moat/Lake). Also it can go on Te Ao (World) . We first started off by timing how much throws we can get to the Tupu (Rock) in one minute. We also did a time trial on how long it takes for everyone to get one throw to the Tupu (Rock).

Later we then added defenders which defend the Tupu from being hit by the ball. So we added defenders and timed how much in a minute we can get the ball to touch the Tupu.

We then played Rescue Te Ara which is where there is a person as the wife who has to be saved. Te Ara is at Pawhero (Island). Then there are Taniwhas on the moat trying to tag the people who are trying to save Te Ara. When some of the rescuers successfully get to Te Ara they have to go cross back through the Taniwha trying not to be tagged.

Boxing

LI: to learn how to box, and also to keep our physicality and mentality fit
For Term Four's Kiwisport we did Boxing. Our instructor was Pax. Pax first taught us the three commandments. The three commandments were: Respect, Discipline, and Safety. We had to respect our coach, peers, and the equipment. We had to be discipline so we can control ourselves and behave properly.

After that we put on our gloves and we learned a stance, we learned about a position that was called "Rock". What w had to do to complete the position was to: spread legs out a little bit more than shoulder, put right leg back, bend knees a little bit, then both hands under yes, and elbows protect torso. The reason it is called Rock is because, when you are in this position you should be solid and shouldn't break the position.

Later we learned a punch called the Jab. We punched the Jab with our left because our left leg is forward. So how w do the Jab is just to punch it straight out, with our knuckles down. After we learned another punch called the Cross. The Cross is kinda the same as the Jab, but it puts more power. The power comes from the legs, and you punch the cross with your right hand. So when you do the cross, you punch it straight out. But when you punch it straight out, your hips should twist, and your right heel should lift up.

L.I: To swim like a duck

Today me and the year 5's went to swimming. When we got into the water our instructor James told us how to swim like a duck. First we had to be in a duck formation and hold our breath for 6 seconds and breathe and then dive in. Next we did stream line. It's when you put your hands up and push yourself into the water and kick. After we did the gliding. It's like stream line but without kicking. After that we dive under water and have to go through a hula hoop and we had to do a role thing when we go on our stomach and turn around on to our backs. Finally we had to hi - 5 James for our good work and walk out and get ready to go back to school.
