L.I To send messeges to other people.

The next activity today was coding the microbit to send a radio signal to another microbit. We had to make sure that both microbits were on the same group number so we didn't accidentally get a message from another group.

LI: To get faster at our times tables

Today we did a Super Fingers championship. We had to get into partners and then we had to verse  another pair and whoever won the round would verse the next opponent and then it would keep going until you made it into the finals. It was really fun doing the championship, when I watched everyone play each other and I noticed that everyone was getting better and better at their times table. More than one or two people can play, you can play anyone they don’t have, to your family you can play against friends people you haven’t seen. You don’t always have to write Super Fingers, you can do Mathematics, Draft, or whatever you want to call it whatever you want.T

There were 24 people 12 draws 6 quarterfinals 3 semi-finals 2 wild cards 2 grand finals and 1 champion.

LI: To try and get the mBot to draw a star shape for Matariki

This week the year 8s of LS2 coded the mbots to drive in a star alligned path. To make the code we used different action codes (moving, wheels, etc). We used a code that allows the mbot to move forwards, left and right, and the seconds the mbot has to do the task at. We drew a star on a large piece of paper and we tested our mbot on the paper. After we have tested our first one we made changes to further improve our mbot code.

Matariki Stars

LI: to strengthen our connection to Matariki
To continue our learning with Matariki we drew the Matariki stars, and labeled each of them. This activity helped us identify each star, and learn each of the names to strengthen our connections to not only Matariki but the culture and celebration. It was really fun doing this as this was an art based activity. We were able to edit these stars and it was very fun doing.

Havesting DLO

Matariki is the Maori new year celebration. It takes places each year when the cluster of stars known as Matariki are seen in our skies. The new year is a time for new beginnings and is a time to embrace tradition. To strengthen our connections to Matariki we had a choice of research activities. This DLO is about what the Maori people Harvested in Matariki. During Matariki poeple collected Kumara, Potato's and more. They used tool's like the Ko, Toki and some other ones as well. I enjoyed this activity because I learnt lots about the Matariki history.

Inside/Outside Brochure

 LI: to celebrate matariki

This week for the matariki challenges we created 2 brochures which was an inside brochure and an outside bochure. For my inside brochure, me and my group explained about the matariki stories, how matariki was celebrated in the past and what food was harvest at the festival. For my outside bochure, we explained matariki and wrote fact about it too.

What I found a bit hard is that i didn't know any fact so I had to reaserch it.

LI: To strengthen our connections to Matariki

Matariki is the Maori new year celebration. It takes places each year when the cluster of stars known as Matariki are seen in our skies. The new year is a time for new beginnings and is a time to embrace tradition.

To strengthen our connections to Matariki we had a choice of research activities.

I found out that more than maori people celebrate matariki.

I enjoyed learning about matariki because I learnt more about my culture.
